Caprese Salad

A simple yet flavourful Italian type of salad that features the colours of the Italian flag: green, white and red. In Italy, while we eat this salad, we like to “fare la scarpetta”, meaning “make a little shoe”, referring to pieces of bread used to mop up the sauce on your plate (we actually like to “fare la scarpetta” with many dishes). 😊

Serves 2 people


2 sliced mozzarelle

Few cherry tomatoes cut in half

Extra virgin olive oil

Red balsamic vinegar of Modena

Fresh basil leaves


Prepare the caprese

Arrange nicely all the ingredients on a large plate in an alternating pattern, season and serve with your favourite bread.
